Vancouver fans will be treated to a live standup performance by Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, members of the American comedy troupe Broken Lizard, followed by an exclusive first look at select scenes from the upcoming film SUPER TROOPERS 2 (Fox Searchlight Pictures), and a candid audience Q&A session. The cult hit reunites the original cast from SUPER TROOPERS in this long-awaited film sequel, which opens across North America on April 20, 2018. JAY CHANDRASEKHAR Director/writer/comedian/actor, Jay Chandrasekhar has contributed and appeared in a wide variety of critically acclaimed films and television programs throughout his career.
At Colgate University, Jay and his classmates formed Charred Goosebeak, a sketch comedy group, which would eventually evolve into, Broken Lizard. Broken Lizard performed at comedy clubs and college campuses across the nation, until the mid-90s, when they set their sights on feature film.
Under his Broken Lizard banner, Chandrasekhar wrote, starred in, and directed the Sundance hit, Puddle Cruiser, Fox Searchlight’s comedy classics, Super Troopers and Club Dread, and Warner Brothers’ Beerfest. Chandrasekhar also directed, The Dukes of Hazzard, a big screen adaptation of the 1980’s television series. The film became a hit, grossing over $180 million worldwide.
More recently, he directed and starred in Millennium Entertainment’s The Babymakers, alongside Olivia Munn, Paul Schneider, Kevin Heffernan and Nat Faxon. After raising more than $4.5 Million dollars in crowdfunding money, Chandrasekhar new film, Super Troopers 2, will be released, wide, by Fox Searchlight on 4.20 (April 20, 2018).
In addition to his feature film work, Chandrasekhar has directed various TV shows, including several episodes of the Emmy Award winning series Arrested Development, Up All Night, Happy Endings, Community, Royal Pains, Blue Mountain State, Psych, Chuck, Undeclared, The Human Giant, The Goldbergs, New Girl, The Grinder and more.
KEVIN HEFFERNAN (writer, actor, producer, director) is one fifth of the Broken Lizard Comedy Group. Heffernan co-starred and co-wrote the cult hits, Super Troopers, Puddle Cruiser, Club Dread, Beerfest, Broken Lizard Stands Up & the soon to be released Super Troopers 2. He made his directorial debut on the Broken Lizard film, The Slammin’ Salmon.
In addition to Broken Lizard films, Heffernan co-wrote and co-starred in the film remake of The Dukes of Hazzard. He has starred in such films as Sky High, Strange Wilderness and The Babymakers. And has appeared on such TV shows as Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Goldbergs, VEEP, How I Met Your Mother & Workaholics.
He is currently the creator, star & director of the pilot Tacoma FD for the TruTV Network.
Kevin also tours the country performing stand up. His first concert special, Fat Man Little Boy, premiered on Netflix in 2013. His second, Below The Belt premiered on Comedy Central in 2016. And he just filmed his latest, The Potential Farewell Tour, releasing in May 2018. He has a weekly podcast with Steve Lemme on the Nerdist Network called Chewin’ it w/ Kevin & Steve.
STEVE LEMME (writer, actor, producer) is a founding member of the Broken Lizard Comedy Group. Lemme co-wrote and co-starred in their cult-hit films, Super Troopers, Beerfest, Puddle Cruiser, Club Dread and The Slammin’ Salmon, as well as Warner Bros. remake of The Dukes Of Hazzard and the soon-to-be-released Fox Searchlight film, Super Troopers 2.
Currently, Lemme is developing two feature films: The Breakdance Battle Of Dusty River, for Lionsgate Studios, and Bring Your Kids To Work Day, for Chernin Entertainment.
Lemme is also Executive Producing and starring in the television pilot, Tacoma FD, which he co-created for TruTV with Broken Lizard member Kevin Heffernan.
His first stand-up comedy concert film, Fat Man Little Boy, premiered on Netflix in 2013. His second stand-up concert film, Below The Belt, premiered on Comedy Central November 11, 2016. He just completed filming of his third stand-up concert, The Potential Farewell Tour, produced by Comedy Dynamics.
